Island Park / West Yellowstone--Snow and Avalanche Information
The series of 3 photos below shows a relatively small slab
avalanche in MT, that was triggered by a snowmachine
user, who luckily survived.  The bottom photo shows the
buried machine being cut out with the help of a hand saw--
a valuable backcountry tool.  Photos are courtesy of the

We would appreciate any reports or observations of
snowpack or avalanche conditions that you might wish to
share.  We will try to include some of your observations in our
